About Me

I have always had a dog, but I have never been happy with simply dropping my dog off at the groomers and leaving her/him there for any period of time. You see, I am one of those ‘protective parents’. The last straw for me was when I went early to pick up my 18-year-old poodle Minute. She was strapped in a standing position ‘crying’ while the person was eating her lunch.  Needless to say, she came home only half-groomed.

I moved to Ottawa to attend university soon after and found a mobile groomer that would come to my house.  In telling her my grooming ‘tails’, I was surprised to learn that she offered a certified pet-grooming course. I signed-up and received my certificate and diploma as a trained pet-groomer.

I have heard repeatedly from other dog owners that they are hesitant to drop-off their ‘fur kids’ at a place with which they are not familiar.  As a result of my experiences, I set up business in 1994 after I moved back to Oshawa. I served the Durham Region successfully for 15 years with a ‘rolodex’ of over 500 clients.  I sold my business in 2009 to look after my family while still grooming my three dogs and dogs of close friends.

I have now decided to return to dog-grooming.  I’m back in business but, as I have gotten older, I am now going to do dog-grooming in my home.

In my home, it’s all about your dog. I promise their comfort will always come first. For example, your dog will always be able to sit during their hair cut.  If they are badly matted, we will start over, trimming so they are mat free.  They will never be in a cage.

I offer a bath option which comes from my mobile days. I bath your dog after they are trimmed. As some dogs have just had enough after an hour or so on the table.

I will only have one dog in my care at a time to further reduce the stress of your dog. I will text or call you when your dog is ready for pick up.

You are invited to stay if you like if this is less stressful for your pet.  It is your choice – like children, some ‘fur kids’ are sometimes better without their parents around.   I have fresh coffee or tea or, with Costco just across the street, you can do your shopping, then come back and wait for your dog to be finished. If you prefer to just relax, you are welcome to sit in my back yard and read a book.
